Inspired by the Filipino slang "Hoy!" or "Hey!" It's a call to get someone's attention. The creature was inspired by the meaning of "mumu" or monster in the Philippines. Our mother would tell us kids "The Mumu is there watching" in order to frighten us to stop doing mischievous acts.
